The Delta Quick Review: When the Banzai first came out it was one of the first sails to break away from the tradition of wave sails having 5 battens. To be honest we did not think it was that great a sail. The trade off of any weight savings was overcome by an unstable sail that felt unruly and heavy in the hands. But Goya sail designer Jason Diffin pushed on and with better use of high-tech materials and the Carbon Stretch Control System the Banzai is now one of our favorite bump-and-jump/wave sails. Yes we know Marcilio Browne won his PWA Wave title with this sail so it's wave pedigree cannot be denied, but we mostly sail bump-and-jump in the Delta and the Banzai is awesome in these conditions as well. It's a tunable sail both for wind range and feel. It can go from a locked in stable sail for blasting and big air, to one that's a touch softer with more grunt giving one the impression of a freestyle sail. For 2018 it's available in two constructions. One with X-ply in the window (Banzai X) and one with Goya's Bi-ply that looks like monofilm but is actually a three layer laminate (Banzai).
The 2019 Banzai Pro is holding tight to the concept overall, being Goya’s maximum modern, explosive power, technical performance World Cup wave sail. Introducing scrim film material luff panels for more depth and flex in the sails.
The Banzai Pro traditionally delivers tremendous tunability, from light downhaul load and a flexy feel to high downhaul tension, finer foil, open head feel with that coveted Goya Windsurfing loose leech.
Special size notes for the Banzai Pro include the beautiful new smaller sizes 3.15 to 4.2, which have become shorter, deeper, more stable and more flexible hot rod sails, quiet and comfortable even if you want to sail super strong winds, hold a line, and just enjoy. The boom on the 4.7 is a touch shorter and this size now really exemplifies the Goya Mix & Match rigging range mast concept. We don’t aim to make the sail feel as same as possible rigged on 370 or 400, but rather we desire the 370 to offer the full flex feel, and the 400 to give the best of that open head locked in feeling. The enormous rigging range and resulting conditions range is an unrivaled plus with these sails.

Pro Bi-Ply & Scrim
Bi-Ply Window Panels. Bi-Ply has the visibility and firmness of monofilm, but lasts three times longer, for multiple reasons. Our 6 mil Bi-Ply is made from 2 layers of 3 mil film, laminated together with glue containing a UV inhibitor which greatly extends the life of the film. By being made from 2 thinner layers, the material is more flexible, stays more supple longer and offers much more resistance to the creasing and eventual breaking that monofilm can suffer. This is really big news as it is a material that offers a more durable alternative to monofilm, with the same perfect clarity. All Goya films, including Scrim, Bi-Ply and X-Ply are made in the USA by Dimension Polyant ® to the highest standards of sail cloth technology.
Scrim Body Panels. The colored Scrim material used in the main panels offers super strong durability, super light weight and a supple and alive feel throughout the sail.
Scrim Luff Panels. The new Scrim luff panels are making the sails feel super crisp and quick, while still being flexible. It’s simply a lighter feeling in the hands. The beautiful thing about Scrim is the general silkiness of the material, so much the opposite of the hardness associated with most laminates. The practical thing about Scrim is that it comes back to zero after being loaded. It stays the same. Whereas Dacron grows at various rates as you use it.
Features. Carbon Stretch Control, Poly Clew Titanium Clew Rings, Rip Stop Sleeve and a Molded Tack Fairing round off the peak quality package. Sleeve cut treatments as well as tack and foot reinforcements are now folded to increase durability and prevent edge fraying. A wide upper leech Marker reinforcement prevents breakdown of the leech in strong wind conditions such as Pozo, the Gorge and Omaezaki.
