Goya Banzai X 2018
Banzai X - Powerwave 4 Batten
The Delta Quick Review: When the Banzai first came out it was one of the first sails to break away from the tradition of wave sails having 5 battens. To be honest we did not think it was that great a sail. The trade off of any weight savings was overcome by an unstable sail that felt unruly and heavy in the hands. But Goya sail designer Jason Diffin pushed on and with better use of high-tech materials and the Carbon Stretch Control System the Banzai is now one of our favorite bump-and-jump/wave sails. Yes we know Marcilio Browne won his PWA Wave title with this sail so it's wave pedigree cannot be denied, but we mostly sail bump-and-jump in the Delta and the Banzai is awesome in these conditions as well. It's a tunable sail both for wind range and feel. It can go from a locked in stable sail for blasting and big air, to one that's a touch softer with more grunt giving one the impression of a freestyle sail. For 2017 it's available in two constructions. One with X-ply in the window (Banzai X) and one with Goya's Bi-ply that looks like monofilm but is actually a three layer laminate (Banzai).
The Banzai is the state-of-the-art, full throttle, explosive power, technical jump and maneuver World Cup performance wave sail.
Banzai provides instant yet flexible power with very light handling alongside massive range in a wide variety of conditions. Equally at home in straight onshore wind and stormy surf, or brushed offshore reef break perfection- Banzai will give you the speed,
control and confidence you need to push your performance level up. Banzai is designed to give you the power and neutral handling you need on the water, and the easy, reactive, finger-tip control you need in the air. Banzai also excels in wave style flat water/chop jump and maneuver sailing. Banzai matches well with single or multi fin boards.
ConstructionLight super strong scrim panels, combination woven Dacron/scrim laminate hybrid luff panel, X-ply film spectra yarn reinforced window panel for maximum durability, carbon fiber stretch control, titanium poly clew outhaul system, rip stop sleeve, molded tack
New For 2018
The Banzai 2018 is the result of nearly 2 years of dedicated R&D Marcilio Browne, Levi Siver and other top riders. This new design gives more of all the best features of Banzai- easy flexible power, mindless control, and massively improved range, especially in
strong and challenging conditions. Reduced luff lengths in sizes 4.2 – 5.5 open the possibility to use 370 or 400 mast in 4.7, and 400 or 430 mast in 5.5 Shorter mast option creates a lighter, more flexible rig, while the longer mast option creates more fixed power and drive in the sail. New shape and profile cuts give the Banzai a more progressive threedimensional profile and twist characteristic that makes the sail like a
chameleon that can adapt and excel in whatever conditions you encounter.
New window shapes increase the viewing area through the sail and make it easier to pick your lines across the water. We have updated the material in the tack and foot of the sail- the area that seems the most impacts, damage etc,,, with stronger film, stronger
yarn configurations in the laminate, and also we’ve make this material in the body color of the sail for more visual impact on the water, more style, more safety. New combination nylon/composite leech mini battens stabilize the leech trailing edge making the sail quieter in the hands and also more durable against material breakdown caused by an excessively fluttering leech.
Available in 3.15, 3.4, 3.7, 4.0, 4.2, 4.5, 4.7, 5.0, 5.3, 5.5, 5.7, 6.0, 6.3 square meters.
Available in blue or yellow.

Pro Scrim & Bi-Ply
The Scrim material used in the main panels offers super strong durability, super light weight and a supple and alive feel. Woven Dacron/Scrim hybrid luff panels, CSC™ Carbon Stretch Control, Poly Clew TCR™ Titanium Clew Rings, RSS™ Rip Stop Sleeve and the MTF™ Molded Tack Fairing round off the peak quality package. Sleeve cut treatments as well as tack and foot reinforcements are now folded to increase durability and prevent edge fraying. A scalloped upper leech reinforcement prevents breakdown of the leech from fluttering in strong wind conditions such as Omaezaki, the Gorge and Pozo.
Bi-Ply has the visibility and firmness of monofilm, but lasts three times longer for multiple reasons. Our 6 mil Bi-Ply is made from 2 layers of 3 mil film, laminated together with glue containing a UV inhibitor which greatly extends the life of the film. By being made from 2 thinner layers, the material is more flexible, stays more supple longer and offers much more resistance to the creasing and eventual breaking that monofilm can suffer. This is really big news as it is a material that offers a more durable alternative to monofilm, with the same perfect clarity. All Goya films, including Scrim, Bi-Ply and X-Ply are made in the USA by Dimension Polyant ® to the highest standards of sail cloth technology. What this means is supreme quality control and film consistency.
