The Delta Quick Review: What do you want in the the perfect mast.? Do you want light-weight, strength, and a bend that fits your sail? If so, then we'd have to say the Goya 99% is the perfect mast.
It's everything we've come to love about Goya's 90% mast just significantly lighter. Yes it does cost more, and that's not easy to overlook, but performance wise we have yet to find a better mast.
The light weight is the result of less reinforcement as well as the higher carbon content. This does mean it's not quite as strong as the 90%, and Goya calls this more of a freeride mast most so than a wave mast. But being Nolimitz built, we've had the confidence to try and push these masts to their limits and have yet to reach their breaking point. They have survived numerous crashes trying stupid things on the river, as well as a few tumbles in the waves. Perhaps the ultimate test for a mast is the backloop, and while our success rate still isn't as high as we'd like, we have managed to land a few with our Goya 99% cheering us on.
Bend wise it is exactly the same as the Goya 90%, which in turn is the same as the Ezzy and Powerex bends. We've found this bend is compatible with more sails than any other so there's a good chance that you make this investment you at least be able to use for the life of a number of sails.

The all new Goya 99% carbon flatwater mast is designed from highest grade carbon, and lots of it. As a matter of fact if it weren’t for finish and labels there’d be little other than carbon in this mast.

There’s a finite number to how stiff you can go with a carbon mast. There’s also a finite number to how stiff you actually want to go on a windsurfing mast. You see both of those numbers in front of you.

Make no mistake, this is not the most rigid and rugged mast in our line, it can take a beating, but you have to treat it with a little tender loving care, on the parking lot and in the water. We take the 99% out on flatwater days and bump & jump. It is not intended for use in waves. Follow those simple rules of sowing and your reaping rewards will be extraordinary.
