Goya Banzai 2015
Banzai - Four Batten Powerful
The Delta Quick Review: When the Banzai first came out it was one of the first sails to break away from the tradition of wave sails having 5 battens. To be honest we did not think it was that great a sail. The trade off of any weight savings was overcome by an unstable sail that felt unruly and heavy in the hands. But Goya sail designer Jason Diffin pushed on, and with better use of high-tech materials and the Carbon Stretch Control System the Banzai is now one of our favorite bump-and-jump/wave sails. Yes we know Marcilio Browne won his PWA Wave title with this sail so it's wave pedigree cannot be denied, but we mostly sail bump-and-jump in the Delta and the Banzai is awesome in these conditions as well. It's a tunable sail for both wind range and feel. It can go from a locked in stable sail for blasting and big air, to one that's a touch softer with more grunt giving one the impression of a freestyle sail. From worst to first, the Banzai is one of the best 4 batten sails you are going to find.
A SAIL AS MULTI FACETED AS MULTI FIN BOARDS
The new Banzai is a worldwide worldcup performance wave sail. This new generation is lighter, more flexible and has a draft forward feeling in the hands, along with better high wind control in all sizes. Explosive low end power, direct feel, and an excellent high wind range define this sail.
All wave and wave style sailing conditions are possible with this sail, from down the line waves to onshore waves and free wave style sailing. The Banzai is a top level progressive performance power wave and jump sail. Perfectly suited to multi fin boards.
Much Lighter and More Flexible Hand-FeelMateo Cano:
“For this season the flex, feel and range of the Banzai has been increased dramatically. Boom lengths have been reduced significantly in sizes 4.2 up to 5.3, with the biggest change on 5.0, which is about 5 cm shorter than in previous years and this is really giving the sails a nice, light, easy handling characteristic. The low end power is still there, but the guys made it “friendlier”.
New materials in the Flex Zones of the sail give the new Banzai an even smoother and more comfortable handling characteristic while maintaining its famously crisp power.”
