Starboard AtomIQ

The Delta Quick Review: Starboard is definitely one of the more innovative brands in windsurfing. While not all of their products are home-runs, they hit it out of the park with the AtomIQ. This board has revolutionized the freeride market making freeride boards a lot more fun regardless of your ability level. With the straps inboard you've got a stable smooth ride that feels natural for getting into the footstraps. Put the straps farther outboard and you've got the leverage to match speeds of the traditional freeride boards. And when you go into your gybe you'll think you're riding a much smaller board as the turn happens more from the tail, just like the freestyle wave you love to ride in higher winds. We have yet to find a downside to this new style of freerider.

Manufacturer's Info:

The innovative slim freerider.

The AtomIQ introduced the super slim concept: these thinner boards, combined with a short and wide outline, have a massive wind range. They’re controllable and maneuverable in high winds, and plane early in light winds.

The AtomIQ uses Starboard’s iSonic rocker profile. This rocker is the core ingredient for the AtomIQ’s blend of speed and control with an efficient, flying sensation.

The AtomIQ’s profile is 10 cm thin in the mid-section to minimize excess volume, lower the board’s center of gravity and shed excess volume for more control and a wider wind range.

The AtomIQs have extra deck dome just under the back feet for added comfort and grip. The wide slim shape reduces to a narrow surface behind the back foot for improved speed and tighter jibes. Cut-aways allow for a crisper fin grip and improved top speed.

New 2017 Freeride Power CNC G-10 fins have a thinner tip for more speed and improved control. The upright rake and thicker base provide maximum stability and traction.

The AtomIQs use a Power Box fin fitting.

The AtomIQs change looks for 2017 with our new minimalist graphic design on the deck and bottom with a visible Carbon Innegra rail band that adds to the boards’ core structural stiffness.
